One of our favourite places to eat is Chilli Orange in Angove Street, North Perth.

Many of you will remember Infusion and Koinonia from Beaufort Street. These were top Asian influenced venues operated by the husband and wife team of Anthony Truong and Yong Kim.

I know we missed Chef Anthony when he moved out of Infusion many years ago, his amazing use of natural, quality ingredients produced some of the best infusion food we’ve ever tasted. Who could forget his duck pancakes?

We were pretty happy when the little Koinonia café opened up (where TanPopo is now) and then grieved again for Kim’s smiling face at front of house and Anthony’s fantastic food when it disappeared.

We saw a lot of change in food on Beaufort Street away from the Asian influence so you could imagine our del ight whe n we stumbled upon Chilli Orange 18 months or so ago. We commented on the duck pancakes and how it reminded us of the old days of Infusion. No sooner said than done and we saw Kim’s happy face and the penny dropped.

Chilli Orange is now firmly placed on the North Perth café trail and we often struggle to get a table when we just decide we need an Anthony food fix. It seems that this beautifully fitted out restaurant is what Kim and Anthony always wanted, we always wanted it and we will continue to support this wonderful business. If you haven’t been there yet, book a table and go, the food is sensational, the restaurant is stylish but relaxed and the wine list is pretty good.
